Who writes checks anymore? It slows down the whole process with the ID check and the managers approval etc. I hate waiting in line behind someone who is paying with a check. Get a credit card, or pay with cash.

On Tuesday, we took you inside the Wharfside grill. Operator Duncan Morrison did not want to answer our questions then, but today he is talking to Ctv News. Morrison says he has resolved a number of the complaints, but he has not paid the employee who came to us for help. Now more former employees are coming forward with their stories. The story of a cook who says he was not paid by the restaurant where he worked and was just days away from being evicted, touched the hearts of many CTV News viewers. It prompted one anonymous donor to cover Beric Ofori's rent, in cash, sending the line cook into a state of shock barely able to find the words to say thank you. "I am going to owe back to society and pay it out in anyway or form I can do," Ofori exclaimed after he opened the envelope containing the cash "I don't have any money. I'm not rich. I am going to stay in this city until I die. I'm not going anywhere. I won't blow it." Ofori worked at the Wharfside for about six months. He claims he is owed $3000 in regular pay, overtime, and unpaid vacation. When we asked the man running the Wharfside about the allegation yesterday, Duncan Morrison did not want to talk. When Bank of America announced they would start charging customers new debit card fees starting early next year, there was an uproar! However, new federal debit card rules went into effect on October 1st that limit the amount of money major banks can charge merchants to process debit card transactions. The new rules essentially cut the amount in half, capping the fees at 21 cents per transaction, down from a previous average of 44 cents. BofA responded to the new rules by announcing a new monthly fee of $5 for customers who use debit cards as a form of payment. Two-thirds of people who took part in an Associated Press-GfK poll in June said they use debit cards more frequently than credit cards, and two-thirds also said they would switch to another form of payment if they were charged a $5 monthly fee. That additional $60 per year per customer for BofA is designed to replace the $2 billion dollars in estimated lost revenue as a result of the new rules going into effect. BofA is trying to save $5 billion dollars through 2014 and has announced plans to cut 30000 jobs as part of that plan. Americans across the country are hurting financially and do not need to pay any new bank fees. At the same time, banks are losing money and have little choice but to come up with new ways to make up for their losses. Valley View Primary Home Care has been in business for about 15 years in Harlingen, according to owner Luz Elizarde. She said the company has an established a patient-base of around 200 people, and has almost 200 home health providers to take care of them. Elizarde said she's never been late on paying her employees -- until April 2. But she said the delay in checks is due to recent changes in health care reform. "It's very, very unfortunate that I have no money to pay my home health providers," Elizarde said. "I feel bad about that, I really do." Since the state is no longer be responsible for reimbursements, Elizarde said she billed three HMOs about mid-March for over $100000 to pay her employees. However, the funds have yet to arrive. Connie Fuentes, has been working for Valley View since November, and said that as a single mother, she depends on getting the checks on time. "The first paycheck (of the month) is for the rent, and this one is for the light," Fuentes said. "My phone is already going to be disconnected tomorrow and the light, well I don't know." Elizarde said she knew changes in health care were coming, but never expected she would be left without funds to pay her employees. Still, this explanation is not good enough for Fuentes. The check printing mechanism in Priority ensures that you can only print those checks that appear in finalized payment documents and which have not yet been printed. The program enables the user to select the maximum number of checks to print at any one time (useful, for instance, when there are only five checks left in the printer whereas there are ten that need to be printed). The program also displays the number of the next check to be printed. If the latter does not tally with the first number on the checks in the printer, it may be revised. One of the financial constants determines the number of check copies that can be printed at any given time, while another determines the maximum number of characters that fit on a single line of a check.
